The Apple AirPods Pro has some additional features compared to the AirPods that Apple released before it. Let’s see what those features are and how the AirPods Pro perform overall.
What comes in the box
- Apple AirPods Pro
- Charging case
- Silicone Ear tips
- Charging cable.
Design & Comfort
The Apple AirPods Pro are provided with small, medium, and large silicone ear tips to provide a more personalized fit. This also allows them to create a strong seal in the ears.
They sit very comfortably in the ears and stay put without budging. Definitely a good choice for use during jogging or exercise.
The stems of the AirPods Pro are where the controls are located. Compared to the AirPods, the AirPods by Pro have relatively shorter stems.
On the earpieces, you’ll find that they both feature microphones along with right and left indicators carved on the stem of each one.
They come with a charging case that is a bit wider than the first version but not bulky. Still very compact and easily portable. Can be stored in a pocket without any problem.
The carry case of these AirPods also provides wireless charging which is very convenient. Just like the old AirPods, the charging case is magnetic to hold the AirPods inside and so is the lid. The magnetic lid helps to prevent the case from suddenly popping open.
Outside the charging case is where you’ll also see an LED light that shows the power status.
With AirPods Pro, you get up to 4.5 hours of playtime when you charge them only once. This is definitely extended by the portable charging case that they come with. You get over 24 hours of use as the case offers extra charges for the AirPods Pro.
When it comes to the sound, the AirPods Pro sound very balanced and offer a lot of clarity. You get more bass from these compared to the originals.
These are not audiophile-level quality by any means, but they are still pretty impressive in sound quality.
The seal that the tips of the AirPods Pros provide really helps improve the overall sound. Furthermore, the full volume on these is super loud too.
The call quality is satisfactory since you will not have problems being heard or have to talk really loud. The microphone also does not pick up noise from around you. Great for making phone calls whether you are inside or outside.
Just as the original AirPods, the AirPods Pro feature the H1 chip. They utilize Bluetooth 5.0 technology and the connectivity is stable.
At the bottom of the stems of the AirPods Pro are where the sensors are present. You do not have to tap or press them. All you do is squeeze them to work the controls. Will definitely take some time for you to get the hang of using these.
- Squeezing the stem once will play/pause your music.
- For the next track, squeeze twice
- Just one squeeze to answer a phone call.
- Three squeezes to skip a song.
- To shift between transparency mode and active noise cancelation mode, just squeeze the stem and hold.
These are also water and sweat-resistant. As a result, you can work out while using them because the sweat won’t damage them. They can also withstand rain and splashes of water.
It is not recommended that you swim or shower with these on.
ANC (Active Noise Canceling Technology)
Active Noise Canceling Technology is also one of the features that the AirPods Pro comes with. This function works very well and helps to filter out background noise for a finer and more enjoyable listener experience.
Along with this, the AirPods Pro also feature Transparency mode to let ambient noise enter your ears. This is a great feature to keep yourself safe and aware of your surroundings, especially when you’re out on the street, at the airport, or on a bus, etc.
- Transparency Mode
- Active Noise Cancelation
- Water and sweat-resistant
- Portable case features wireless charging.
Watch SoundGuys video review of the Apple AirPods Pro.
The brand credibility of Apple has remained unchanged since our review of their Airpods.
Apple is a world-famous multinational corporation that over the years has come out with top-of-the-line, high-quality products. There are Apple stores almost all over the world that sell their products.
Initially, Apple manufactured computers until 2001, when they introduced their iPod (portable music player) and later launched their iTunes Music Store. Presently, they are most famous for their iPhones and iPads.
Their product range has expanded tremendously and they now offer Apple smartwatches, iPod touch, Homepod, Powerbeats Pro earphones, AirPods, etc.
The Apple AirPods instantly became popular among the masses and within some time the market was flooded with a sea of affordable AirPod knock-offs by various brands.
Quality & Materials Used
The AirPods Pro and their charging case seem like they are made of hard plastic. Quality-wise, they seem well-built and solid. However, the case can get dirty fairly quickly.
At the time of this review, the Apple Airpods Pro are priced at $249.
Pros & Cons
- The Apple AirPods Pro come with a few silicone ear tips to deliver a custom fit.
- The silicone ear tips also offer a better grip and comfort.
- These tips are also passive noise isolating.
- The charging case of these is pocketable and has the wireless charging feature.
- Active Noise cancellation is present to provide an enjoyable user experience.
- Transparency mode is another neat feature that the AirPods Pro has.
- Can be used during workouts as they are sweat/water-resistant.
- There are force sensors on the stems of each earpiece.
- The Apple AirPods Pro do not have any volume controls on them. However, you can summon Siri to do that.
- They come with force sensors instead of the usual touch-sensitive controls. You cannot use the controls with just one finger. May need some getting used to.
The Apple AirPods Pro for sure overcomes some of the deficiencies that we saw in the AirPods before these.
These may not be really pocket-friendly, but they are definitely packed with some useful features, and the sound quality is great too.
